Majority of the civilians in the Inca empire were farmers. The next most common job for the people would be a weaver. The weavers were most commonly women or girls but in some areas men wove also. There were still many other jobs besides farming and weaving, those jobs included messengers, governors, doctors, chemists, laborers, herders, hunter and chosen women. A chosen women was a girl that would have been selected for her looks and talent. They'd usually select the girl around the age of 10 years old, they would be taken from their homes and never return again. They would be sent to a provincial center throughout Tiwantinsuyu or to the capital Cuzco. Some of the chosen women that were the Inca ideal of perfection would be sacrificed to the gods to try and keep them happy. These were usually the only women to receive a formal education. Most often they would be taught skills such as spinning wool, cooking and weaving. After their schooling was completed these women got various jobs. They could become teachers for the newer chosen women, some served in temples and other became wives of the emperor or nobles.
