The ancient Inca government was a monarchy ruled by a single leader. This leader would be known as the Sapa Inca (sole ruler), they believed the Sapa Inca to be a descendant of the sun god His wife would be called the Coya. At the very top of the Inca government was the Sapa Inca. just underneath the Sapa Inca was the Apos. Inca land was seperated into four quarters an Apos would be the leader of a quarter. Then followed the governors, they would be in charge of 20,00 households in a province. The next down were called curacas, the main purpose of them was to ensure that taxpayers paid there taxes and to make sure the workers worked. The Inca government is one of the main reasons why the Inca empire thrived in its time.
